The Davidson Configuration established the direct array: six Reactors coupled directly to the +Source. The Florence Configuration introduces a new relationship — the indirect relationship — and with it, the largest gain of any configuration.
The Florence Configuration consists of one Infrasonic Reactor +Source, six direct Infrasonic Reactors, and thirty indirect Reactors, for a total of thirty-seven Reactors. Each of the six direct Reactors receives five indirect Reactors, giving thirty indirect Reactors in total.
The Florence Configuration introduces the indirect relationship. An indirect Reactor is coupled to a direct Reactor rather than to the +Source.
A direct Reactor is one step from the +Source: it is coupled to the +Source. An indirect Reactor is two steps from the +Source: it is coupled to a Reactor that is itself coupled to the +Source. It receives the key signature through the direct Reactor, not directly from the +Source.
Each of the six direct Reactors consumes nothing from the Source and outputs +0.5, contributing +3.0 units in total. Each of the thirty indirect Reactors consumes nothing from the Source and outputs +0.25, contributing +7.5 units in total. The total output is therefore +0.75 +3.0 +7.5, equalling +11.25 units against an input of one unit or -1.0, for a net of +10.25, the highest gain of all configurations. The boost factor is 11.25× the input.
The indirect Reactor consumes no energy from the Source. It is triggered into oscillation through the activated medium via the direct Reactor; the Pedestal’s spring characteristic — loaded by gravity — amplifies that oscillation. Its output of +0.25 reflects that it is two steps from the +Source, resonating with less vigour than a direct Reactor.
The Florence Configuration completes the relationship gradient. The +Source, at its position, outputs +0.75. A direct Reactor, one step from the +Source, outputs +0.5. An indirect Reactor, two steps from the +Source, outputs +0.25. The closer a Reactor is to the +Source, the higher the gain — because it resonates with much more vigour. The gain diminishes as the relationship moves from self to direct to indirect. The numbers are illustrative of the gradient, not fixed coefficients.
With the Florence Configuration, the set is complete. Beginning with the Self Configuration — alone and energetically negative, incomplete — and progressing through the direct relationship of the Droit Configuration, the direct array and surplus of the Davidson Configuration, and finally the indirect relationship of the Florence Configuration, each step adds a relationship and each relationship adds gain. The Self consumes more than it produces. The Droit produces its first surplus. The Davidson multiplies that surplus into a large array. The Florence extends the relationship one step further, to the indirect, and achieves the largest gain of the four.
